DAAD Scholarships
DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) is a joint organization of Germany’s higher education institutions, responsible for promoting international academic relations. The DAAD scholarships are awarded to students who want to get a qualification in a full-time course of study. The applicants should have completed their Bachelor’s degree not more than in the last 6 years and they should have at least two years of proven work experience. The stipend amount of the DAAD scholarship is €850 monthly for postgraduate students and 1,200€ monthly for doctoral students.
Heinrich Böll Foundation
The Heinrich Böll Foundation awards approx. 1,200 scholarships a year. Non-EU students in their Master’s studies will receive 850€ per month, in addition to individual allowances (tuition fees might be possible). EU students of the same level of study will receive 649€ plus 300€ book money per month. It is awarded for the regular period of study with the possibility of extension by one semester.
Friedrich Ebert Stiftung
To address social disadvantages by supporting students who actively work for freedom, justice, and social cohesion in their commitment to social democracy, or will do so in the future, continues to be one of the aims of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.
CONACYT (for Mexican citizens)
The CONACYT Mexican Scholarship aims to provide Mexican citizens with funding to support studies overseas at the point of admission or while they are undertaking studies abroad to enhance their skills in areas of Science, Technology, and Innovation and contribute back to Mexico and form linkages with global partner institutions.
COLFUTURO (for Colombian citizens)
COLFUTURO is a Colombian non-profit foundation that was established in 1991 with the support of the National Government and some of the most important companies of the private sector in the country at that time. Its main objective is to provide financial support and increase the possibilities for Colombian citizens to access high-quality postgraduate study programs abroad.
ERASMUS Scholarships
The Erasmus+ is a European Union program for Education, Training, Youth, and Sport for the period of 2014-2020, implemented by the European Commission and a few supporting organizations to offer financial support for activities that increase skills and employability among youth in Europe. Erasmus+ Programme, since 2014 is an integrated successor of several educational programs of the European Union which were implemented in the period 2007-2013. More.

“Bildungskredit” – Educational Loan
A „Bildungskredit“ is a fund granted by the German Government in association with private banking groups. It is mostly awarded to students at higher stages of their education.
BaföG
BAföG is an abbreviation for the Federal Education and Training Assistance Act. It gives opportunities to talented students to attend education despite the lack of financial means. The funds are often grants or free-interest loans.

Student Jobs in General
International students in Germany are allowed to work up to 140 days a year. However, depending on only your part-time job earnings will not cover all expenses during your studies in Germany. Look for jobs as a “Werksstudent” to find out more.
Student Research/Academic Assisstant
A position as a research or academic assistant at the university is ideal for students from non-EU countries. To find such opportunities you can check the university’s bulletin board or the university’s job postings.
Off campus student jobs
Students, on student jobs, can earn up to 450 EUR/month without the need to pay taxes. If you are earning more than that amount monthly, regularly, you will be required to obtain a tax number. This way, a certain amount will be deducted from your wage every month, but you will get it back at the end of the year if you submit a tax return.
